A contract was signed, in January 2016, between the representative of this new German investment, Ahmed Elshaer, the Prime Minister at the time, Nikola Gruevski, the Minister for Foreign Investments, Bill Pavleski and Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Pesevski.
It was announced that the company was going to invest 15 million euros in the construction of its own production plant and office building that will extend over an area of 15,000 square meters in TIDZ Bunardzik; the plant would produce solar panels and LED lamps using top German technology, which is currently being applied in their production plant in South China. It was announced that the new investment would create 200 new jobs.
The non-current assets of the company, according to documents from the Central Register, for 2015 amount to about 16 thousand euros, and the company had 5 employees by the end of 2015, and 7 employees as of November 2016.
The planned construction of the plant was to begin in late February or March 2016 at the latest and it was to be completed within six to eight months (no later than October 2016). The plant’s production was supposed to start at the end of that year. In May 2016, the Director of the Directorate for Technological Industrial Development Zones, Viktor Mizo, said the factory was still under construction at the time.
The company was established in 2014, with a share capital of 2,500 from both Ayman Mohammed Mohammed Mostafa of the existing company, and another 2,500 euros from Ahmed Abdalla Mohamed Elshaer.
BIRN researched the company and obtained the information that it is not a German, rather an Egyptian investment.
If one looks at the website of the GES, one can see that their office is located in Dusseldorf, Germany, but there is no data on the founders of the company, neither an address nor a telephone number.
The office in Macedonia is the only listed sales office on the official website, which only offers a Macedonian mobile phone number as its contact.
Working together with German journalists, who visited the company’s headquarters near Dusseldorf, we revealed data that the company it is in fact a "letterbox company" because at the site indicated as their headquarters, there is nothing aside from a mailbox with the name of GES. The company's headquarters is located on the Sand 18 street in Ratingen, Germany. If this address is input in Google, a small facility near the ramp of the railway can been seen; the same was established by German journalists on the ground.
